It has been noted by many that fun., the winner of the Best New Artist trophy at the 55th Grammy Awards, isn't exactly a new band. Even the group's album, "Some Nights," -- which included Song of the Year champion "We Are Young" -- was released back in 2011. Instead, fun. only made the big time this year, thus qualifying the band for the most recent Grammys.
What were the triggers for this success? Surprisingly, fun. may have "Glee" and a Super Bowl ad to thank for the band's rise to the top.
When "We Are Young" was released as a single in 2011, it didn't get much attention. While debuting at number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it quickly disappeared. It is likely that nothing more would have happened with the song if it were not for a little show called "Glee."
