With X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer promising some 'clean-up work' to align the continuity of the franchise, fans are curious to see how the old and new cast feature in the film's ambitious storyline.

Singer has also admitted to discussions about "time travel, string theory and multiverses."

Those could be the ways that the X-Men film world is both united and expanded.

Among the returning actors is Shawn Ashmore, who played Bobby Drake aka Iceman. His casting was confirmed on Twitter by Singer.

Ashmore has confirmed the story is indeed a way of solidifying the connections between the First Class film and the original trilogy.

He told IGN: "I think the take on the story is really interesting. I think that Days of Future Past, as any X-Men fans knows, is a great arc. I love the idea of combining and bringing some cohesion to the two timelines that are happening now. »
