Mark Duplass has added to his already busy acting schedule with two new roles. Deadline reports that the Safety Not Guaranteed star has signed on to star in Stephen King's Mercy and a John F. Kennedy film called Parkland.

Universal and Blumhouse are producing Mercy, based on a short from Skeleton Crew. Duplass joins Dylan McDermott, Frances O’Connor, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight, and Chris Browning. Peter Cornwell (A Haunting In Connecticut) is directing based on a script by Matt Greenberg. Mercy is based on King’s short story Gramma, about "two young boys who visit their grandmother and discover she’s a witch."

He has also joined Open Road's Parkland, an ensemble piece about the hours following JFK's assassination. Duplass will play Kenny O’Donnell, campaign advisor and close confidant to President Kennedy. He will star opposite Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, Billy Bob Thornton, and Smallville »
