MGM has acquired film rights to "Me Before You," Jojo Moyes' novel which has sold over half a million copies and landed on the NYTimes' bestseller list. The book is available in 31 translations. The story centers on Lou, a small town girl amidst dead-end jobs and Will, a high profile success until he gets in an accident and becomes wheelchair-bound. Lou becomes Will's caretaker, and after a rocky start she becomes determined to prove to Will that his life is still worth living. Sounds like the romance version of France's "The Intouchables," but aimed at women who love Nicholas Sparks adaptations and the likes of "Bridges of Madison County." MGM's Jonathan Glickman states, “Jojo’s book is frankly one of the most unique, emotional and engaging love stories written in recent years. We’re so thrilled to collaborate with her on creating a classic film romance that lives up to this exceptional novel. »
