Nicolas Cage as Superman was almost a thing. No, we're not pulling your leg.
Back in the late '90s, Kevin Smith was tapped to pen a script for "Superman Lives," which would then be directed by Tim Burton and star Nic Cage as the Man of Steel. The project ultimately fell through, for reasons producer Jon Schnepp aspires to explore in full with his Kickstarter documentary campaign "The Death of 'Superman Lives' What Happened?," and so it lives on like so many other would-be flicks do - as another installment of Hollywood Sliding Doors.
Shelved though this movie may have been, a new supposed image of Cage in a test costume has come along to show that maybe we did miss out on something interesting with Cage as the Kryptonite-dodging superhero.
This black-and-white shot of Cage trying out the muscley get-up landed on Reddit (via Comic Book News).
