Cinemax has picked up "Banshee," its new drama from "True Blood" creator Alan Ball and showrunner Greg Yaitanes, for a second season.

The cable network announced the news on Tuesday.

"Banshee," which airs Friday at 10 Pm on the network, stars Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con who assumes the identity of the late Sheriff of Banshee, the same town his ex-girlfriend/partner in crime Ana, lives as Carrie (Ivana Milicevic) with her new family.
