After being at the helm of the awards contender and real-life drama The Impossible, director Juan Antonio Bayona is heading into science fiction territory with a new project at Warner Bros. Variety has word that Bayona has joined an untitled sci-fi film written by Forrest Gump and Munich screenwriter Eric Roth. Unfortunately, details on the story have yet to be revealed, but with a skilled writer like Roth penning the script and Bayona taking this as only his third directing gig (following The Impossible and the Guillermo del Toro produced horror film The Orphanage), there's the potential for something great here. The writer is also behind the gestating tale of Cleopatra which has Ang Lee circling the project with Angelina Jolie in the lead. Warner Bros. »
