NBC has taken a big jump in this year's pilot season. In addition to four drama pilots already picked up, the network ordered two more drama pilots and three comedies on Tuesday (Jan. 22).

The two drama pilots are "The Sixth Gun" from Carlton Cuse ("Lost," "Bates Motel") and "The Blacklist" from Jon Bokenkamp.

"The Sixth Gun" is based on a graphic novel and follows the story of six mythical and powerful guns that drift around the old west. When the sixth gun (also the most powerful) is found by a young girl, dark forces awaken to kill her and take the gun. Only a self-serving gunslinger can help to save the girl.

Cuse's decision to work on such a show cannot be much of a surprise to fans of the 1990s cult show, "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." (a western-comedy-sci-fi-drama).
