Zal Batmanglij’s action-mystery movie The East has officially had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

Director-writer Batmanglij and co-writer and actress Brit Marling‘s follow-up to their debut last year, Sound of My Voice is getting immensely promising reviews. The first trailer and poster for the intriguing new drama are now online.

Beside Marling, The East also stars an all-star cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Ellen Page, Toby Kebbell, Shiloh Fernandez and Patricia Clarkson.

The film follows an undercover operative Sarah Moss (Marling) who infiltrates a domestic terrorist organization, but becomes conflicted when she starts to fall in love with the group’s charismatic leader.

Fox Searchlight Pictures have already acquired the film’s distribution rights in North America to Zal Batmanglij’s sophomore feature directorial effort.
