I hope you’ll forgive me if I take everything AMC says regarding the recent firing of Glen Mazzara from The Walking Dead with a grain of salt. It’s one thing to drop two different showrunners on a series, but it’s a whole other thing to go through them in less than 18 months. I find it highly unlikely both Mazzara and Frank Darabont both had creative differences that were so extreme they needed to be let go. But that’s the story that’s being passed around. AMC still says the split with Mazzara was amicable due to those differences, but still others – such as showrunners Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) and Shawn Ryan (Last Resort) – pin the blame on The Walking Dead comic writer Robert Kirkman.
