Becoming the first James Bond movie to surpass the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, Sony Pictures' Skyfall has proven to be a huge success for the long-running franchise. The film, which stars Daniel Craig in his third outing as 007, is now confirmed to be close to the $300 million mark domestically, and is expected to cross it tonight. For reference, the second highest grossing Bond film domestically is 2008's Quantum Of Solace, which made $168M in North America. Skyfall is also up for five Oscars at next month's Academy Awards; it is nominated for Best Original Song (Adele), Best Original Score (Thomas Newman), Best Cinematography (Roger Deakins), Best Sound Editing (Per Hallberg and Karen Baker Landers), and Best Sound Mixing (Stuart Wilson, Scott Millan and Greg P. Russell). The film also won the Best Original Song award for "Skyfall" recently at the Golden Globes. »
