As Hollywood studios continue to search for well-known '80s franchises to dust off, Joe Dante's Gremlins has come up a few times in recent years, thanks in part to a BT Business commercial that aired in 2008. A couple of years ago there were reports that Gremlins 3 was being explored as a possible 3-D blockbuster but it didn't seem to get beyond the idea stage. Last year producer Frank Marshall stated in an interview that he didn't think another Gremlins flick would happen and that the existing movies "should just rest where they are." Well, perhaps he spoke too soon because this week we're hearing that a Gremlins movie is on the verge of heading back in development, and this time around it won't be a sequel, but rather a reboot. According to Vulture, Warner Brothers is currently holding talks with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment about the possibility of rebooting Gremlins. »
