Speaking with The Playlist while promoting the horror film Mama (which he's producing), Guillermo del Toro discusses some of his upcoming projects, including a planned sequel to his sci-fi film Pacific Rim which is coming this summer. It was recently announced that del Toro will be co-writing the sequel's script with Travis Beacham, though he isn't definitely set to direct. However, he's interested in filming in 3D if he does sign on to take the helm again. "Yes. Provided, at that point, that the technology is becoming easier and easier…" He then comments on his initial lack of interest in converting Pacific Rim to 3D, despite the studio's insistence. "Even then they were super respectful. By then we were already getting Ilm shots. I was realizing that out of 100 shots, maybe 10% of the shots were risky. They said, "If we go 2D on those shots, we can do it." »
