I am unaccountably intrigued by this. Writer-director Richard Lagravenese has been involved with some satisfying cheese (P.S. I Love You, Water for Elephants), so that gives me a little hope that this will be at least enjoyable, if also perhaps kinda silly. But the idea of a female version of Harry Potter or Luke Skywalker is nice, too. Of course, neither Harry’s nor Luke’s fate and future power depended upon romance, and neither of their stories featured romance as a major plot point. Still, baby steps... Also: I bet Emma Thompson and Jeremy Irons will chew up the scenery something fierce. »
