Those that lived through the Cold War between the former Ussr and the United States are no doubt aware of the "space race" that occurred between the two countries. While the Apollo–Soyuz Test Project mostly settled the conflict between them, there is one area where Russia clearly was ahead: making a live-action adaptation of The Hobbit. For those critical of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (and you know who you are), you might have a change of heart after watching this seemingly made-for-tv adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's first foray into Middle-Earth. which includes a Gandalf that looks like Liberace and dwarves being captured during a dance sequence.
