Oscar nominations morning brought some welcome presents to independents "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (four nominationa) and "Amour" (five) especially, as each film landed on the best picture list of nine and earned writing and directing nominations for Benh Zeitlin and Michael Haneke. Left off the directors list: Ben Affleck, Tom Hooper and Kathryn Bigelow, although their films were included in the top nine. "Lincoln" lead the pack with a total 12 nominations. Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" scored eleven nominations, "Les Miserables" scored eight, "Argo" seven, "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Skyfall" five, but James Bond 23 did not make the best picture list. "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Django Unchained" each earned eight and five nominations, respectively, and "The Master" three, so Weinstein Co. had a good day, with 17 nominations altogether, including »
