Pointless has beaten rival show The Chase for the first time since October last year. Last Friday's edition of the BBC One quiz game averaged 3.71m and a 21.7% share between 5.15pm and 6pm, while The Chase had 3.56m (21.9%) across the hour, adding 300,000 on +1. This is the latest twist in a ratings battle that has seen The Chase comfortably win in recent months, with the Bradley Walsh show becoming ITV's biggest teatime hit since The Paul O'Grady Show. Despite a modest 9pm audience of 2.81m (11.5%) for a Benidorm repeat, ITV managed to pip BBC One in primetime, which could only find 3.73m (15.4%) and 2.76m (12.3%) for new series of Room 101 and Live at the Apollo.
