Starz Entertainment reports that production has started in Cape Town, South Africa on the new 'pirate' series "Black Sails" from executive producer Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes, with Neil Marshall ("Game of Thrones") directing the first episode.

"...'Flint', the most brilliant and feared captain of all the 'Golden Age' pirates is commander of the ship 'Walrus'. Flint adds a young stranger to his crew who goes by the name of  'John Silver' who has stolen a map to a Spanish Treasure galleon that Flint is after.

"Threatened with extinction on all sides, he and his crew fight for the survival of 'New Providence Island', the most notorious criminal haven of its day - a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers..."

"Black Sails" is executive produced by Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Formm, created by showrunner,  executive producer Jon Steinberg and co-executive producer Robert Levine.
