While some of us are still figuring out our resolutions, Bruce Springsteen has already racked up an impressive win: person of the year. MusiCares, a charity associated with The Recording Academy, recently named Springsteen its 2013 Person of the Year, honoring the Boss' musical achievements and philanthropic work.
"Bruce Springsteen is a truly gifted and Renaissance artist of our time, a national treasure and an exemplary humanitarian," said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, in a statement. "His career is a testament to the power of creative excellence, and his contributions as a philanthropist speak to the tenacity of the human spirit."
Springsteen was one of many performers who played the 12/12/12 Hurricane Sandy charity concert to raise funds for the thousands affected by the superstorm, but has also lent his star power to a number of other causes. Fighting hunger is an issue near »
