While this should come as no surprise to most readers, we wanted to pass along the word that The Munsters reboot TV series has been officially canceled. Series creator Bryan Fuller made the announcement on Twitter last night: “I tweet with a heavy heart. NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”
The cancellation was looking likely after NBC decided to air the pilot as a Halloween TV special and not as the first episode of a brand new series. The episode aired on October 26th, and there was a slim chance that ratings or audience reaction would change NBC’s mind, but obviously it didn’t perform well enough to merit additional episodes. It is said that NBC spent around $10 million to develop the project.
