"Merry Christmas, Piers Morgan! Now go back to England." That's the overarching message from more than 50,000 people who have endorsed a petition on the White House's official website demanding the CNN host be deported for "a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment."
"We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," reads the petition, which, having surpassed the 25,000 signature mark, now requires an official response.
Following the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., Morgan has been an outspoken advocate for gun control.
"This is why I am facing deportation from America," he tweets Monday (Dec. 24) along with a link to an op-ed he wrote for CNN.com.
