Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark takes a beating in Iron Man 3; Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi up for Star-Lord lead role in Guardians of the Galaxy

A new photo has been officially sent over from Iron Man 3, showing Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark looking battered and bruised in his damaged armour.

Publicists for the film, released on April 26, 2013, said: "Before 2012 draws to an end we can now make available a brand new image from the highly anticipated next chapter of the Iron Man franchise."

The film is directed by Shane Black with a cast that also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall and Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin.

Marvel is also working on a big-screen adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy, set to hit cinemas on August 1, 2014, and last month we heard that seven actors were being considered for the lead role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord.

Variety now reports that the contenders have been whittled down to Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi. The original shortlist did not include Levi, who
