Celebrity involvement played a key role in helping create and maintain awareness of the imprisonment of the three men known as the West Memphis Three. Those with an interest in the West Memphis Three have likely seen the Paradise Lost documentary trilogy, which follow the story of the murder of three boys in West Memphis, Arkansas and the emotional aftermath, which included the trial and conviction of three teenage boys, one of whom was sentenced to death. The original Paradise Lost documentary sparked public awareness of the kids convicted, and celebrity involvement contributed as well, and the WM3 were finally released from prison last year on Alford pleas.
