It's been a year of ups and downs for DreamWorks Animation. This summer saw the release of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, which received a warm reception from critics and took in an impressive $724 million worldwide. Then with the cold weather came Rise of the Guardians, which despite charming critics received the cold shoulder from audiences. With a production budget of $145 million dollars, it's worldwide box office of $191 million means DreamWorks is expected to take a loss of upwards of $50 million, accounting for print and advertising costs as well.
