How I Met Your Mother's Carter Bays has confirmed that the show's future is still uncertain. It is currently unclear if the CBS sitcom will be picked up for a ninth run, with Bays and co-creator Craig Thomas previously confirming that the show's team are writing the current eighth season "like it's the end". "I'd like [the fate of the show] to be resolved before the New Year, but I'm not sure," Bays told TV Guide.
