NBC has teamed up with Gary Anthony Williams (Weeds) and Al Roker to develop a new comedy series for the network titled The Fosters. It'll star Williams (who'll also co-write), with Roker (via his Al Roker Entertainment) executive producing, and will cenger on a father (Williams) of several foster children. And in case you're wondering, Roker's connection to the project is inspired by his own personal experience with foster children. A title change might have to happen to avoid any confusion with ABC Family's upcoming new dramedy pilot also calles The Fosters, which centers on a lesbian couple who are parents to a house full of kids (some of them also foster children). Gary Anthony Williams is apparently a busy fellow, with a handful of projects on his upcoming slate, sold to the likes of Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network.
