Gangnam Style and Whitney Houston have been named as two of the fastest-growing UK Google searches of 2012. Psy's global hit was cited as the top trending song of the year, while the late singer headed up the list of trending people ahead of Kate Middleton and Gary Barlow. The Google Zeitgeist annual rankings log the fastest-growing searches of the year, rather than simply the largest volume of searches. Sport featured prominently on the list, with Euro 2012 named as the top trending search of 2012 ahead of the Olympic Games. Andy Murray, who won an Olympic gold medal and grand slam title in 2012, was the most searched-for British Olympian, while Usain Bolt was the most popular on the global front.
