Cheryl Cole has filed a lawsuit against the producers of The X Factor USA for the salary she claims she is owed. The singer has sued the American singing contest's makers Blue Orbit Production to the tune of $$2.3 million (£1.4m). Cole was dropped by the Fox network only a few weeks after filming started for the first season. The Girls Aloud star, who was formerly a judge on the UK version of The X Factor, had a pay-or-play contract for two seasons, meaning she would be compensated even if she was released from her contract, according to Deadline.
