As if offering restored versions of films hard to find anywhere else wasn't enough of a reason to appreciate The Criterion Collection for all they do in the effort of film preservation, taking that extra time to go the extra mile and create exclusive featurettes by the filmmakers, cast, and crew make each release from the Criterion Collection superior to those released by other distributors. If there's a Criterion Collection edition of a film, chances are it's the definitive release in terms of quality and comprehensive coverage. This December, four new works get the Criterion Collection treatment including Godfrey Reggio's Qatsi Trilogy, Christopher Nolan's feature-length directorial debut Following, a French take on the classic character Mr. Ripley in Purple Noon, and Terry Gilliam's outstanding absurdist Sci-Fi drama, Brazil.
