Armada Docks at Universal Pictures
Universal Pictures has acquired the feature film rights to Ernest Cline's upcoming novel Armada, just days after the author landed a seven-figure deal for the book with Crown Publishing.

Little is known about the story of this novel, except that it features "a high-concept hook that offers the ultimate wish fulfillment to every video game fan on the planet." The studio has not attached a screenwriter or director to the project. Scott Stuber will produce through his Bluegrass Films banner, alongside Farah Films' Dan Farah.

Ernest Cline wrote the screenplay for Fanboys back in 2009, before turning his attention to writing novels. We reported in June 2010 that Warner Bros. acquired the rights to his first book Ready Player One, which is also set in the video game world.
