After much speculation and of the many candidates, Dane DeHaan has been chosen as the heir apparent to James Franco as the next Harry Osborn in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-man. Director Marc Webb made the announcement on his Twitter.

DeHaan burst onto the scene with his turn in Chronicle, the superhero found footage film from Josh Trank, and has had roles in In Treatment, True Blood, Lincoln, and Lawless. Now he has his chance at stardom, as it’s clear that Marc Webb and company went with the “dark and edgy” side of Harry, and not the dreamy athletic route that had also been rumored.
