If you were to look at lists for the biggest commercial and critical hits of any movie-going year, I’d wager you would find a pretty big discrepency. Think of some of the biggest hits of the last few years, be they the titans of the blockbuster realms like the Transformers series or word-of-mouth hits such as Mamma Mia, still one of the biggest films of all time at the UK Box Office, and you think of films which connect with multiplex audiences but don’t seem to get much respect from the critical community, whether the established press or the ever growing online community.
