Primer exists on the fringes of sci-fi cinema.  The true die-hard, sci-fi fanboys who enjoy thought-provoking cinema gravitate to the film like bugs to the light, but the film doesn’t have the broad reaching appeal as something like Star Trek has.  As a fan of the film, I have followed the director’s path over the years to see what warped view of reality he may present to us next.  Alas, not much has been heard from the director since his directorial debut outside of the fact that he apparently helped out on Rian Johnson’s Looper (according to Johnson).  However, it was just announced late last week that Primer’s director, Shane Carruth, was going to be debuting his follow-up to his 2004 film at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival; where Primer previously debuted.  It is entitled Upstream Color.  To get people excited about the cryptically titled film, the first teaser has been released. »
