The marketing campaign for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' Pacific Rim is now underway, with a viral campaign ongoing and a trailer being released next week. The Guillermo del Toro-directed sci-fi epic, which focuses on giant robots vs. giant monsters, won't be released until next July, but a sequel is already officially in the works. Del Toro previously stated that he was discussing a possible follow-up with screenwriter Travis Beacham, but it won't be his next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beacham has been hired by Legendary to write the script for the Pacific Rim sequel. Del Toro will co-write the script, although it's currently not clear if he will return to helm the follow-up.
