The Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane who will host the 2013 Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles has set up his feature film follow-up to Ted. MacFarlane’s next feature film directing gig is a live-action western comedy called A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Host of the 85th Annual Academy Awards, MacFarlane plans to direct and star in the live-action film, which is said to be in the vein of Blazing Saddles.

Seth MacFarlane experienced a meteoric rise to fame because of his first feature film, the live-action/CG comedy Ted grossing a little over $500 million in its theatrical run.

The forthcoming film is described as

a Western with contemporary humor, with one undercurrent being just how dangerous and painful life really was in the late 1800s.
