With roles in John Hillcoat's celebrated Western Lawless and Robert Redford's upcoming drama The Company You Keep, Shia Labeouf has been pushing hard to get filmmakers and moviegoers to see him as a serious actor, no longer the affable child star turned Transformers front man. A major part of this effort is shaking up his clean-cut image, something the 26-year-old performer has accomplished in part by unleashing outlandish claims about his craft, and signing on to Lars von Trier's already controversial erotic drama Nymphomaniac. But another crucial aspect to shifting his casting niche is varying his image. While his locks have ranged from short to floppy to slicked back, Labeouf is usually brandishing a cleanly shaved baby face in his film roles. But for the recently wrapped romantic drama The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman, he's sporting some greasy-looking longer hair with a scruffy beard and mustache set. »
