The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Skyfall has opened to an impressive, but not record breaking, $5.5 million in Japan. Taking the #1 spot during its opening weekend, upwards of 400,000 moviegoers flocked to see the critically acclaimed film, resulting in a two-day total of 455 million yen. That's 69% more than Casino Royale and 49% ahead of Quantum of Solace, though both of those finished their runs with around $27 million. The latest instalment in the James Bond franchise opened on 584 screens (355 showing the subtitled version, 229 the dubbed one). Worldwide, Skyfall has now made $869 million, and several analysts are predicting that it will have surpassed $950 million by the time it is released in China next year. Will this be the first billion dollar Bond? Daniel Craig is back as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in Skyfall™, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. »
