With Cate Blanchett in negotiations to play the evil stepmother in Disney’s re-imagining of the classic fairytale Cinderella, Untitled Cinderella Story, the studio has begun narrowing its search for the title character.

The three foreign-born actresses that will reportedly soon be testing for the role are already established Irish teen thesp Saoirse Ronan (The Host), Alicia Vikander, the lovely Swedis-born actress from A Royal Affair and Britain’s Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) who has signed on to play the role of Sue Snell in Carrie remake.

Chris Weitz (About a Boy) wrote the script and Simon Kinberg (X-Men) will produce Mark Romanek’s live-action adaptation. Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the initial draft and Disney set the project up in the wake of its success with Alice in Wonderland in May 2010.
