Life of Pi has been shortlisted for the 85th Academy Awards in the Visual Effects category.
Directed by Ang Lee and starring Indian actors Irrfan Khan, Adil Hussain, Tabu and Suraj Sharma; the film recently opened the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) and is scheduled to open the Dubai International Film Festival next month.
The 10 contenders in Visual Effects category are:
“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”
“John Carter”
“Marvel’s The Avengers”
“Prometheus”
“Skyfall”
All members of the Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the 10 shortlisted films on Thursday, January 3. Following the screenings, the members will vote to nominate five films for final Oscar consideration.
