Playground Entertainment, City Entertainment and KippSter Entertainment are teaming for a proposed mini-series adaptation of E.M. Forster's classic 1910 novel "Howards End" for British broadcaster BBC2.
The story explores social and class divisions in early 20th century England through the prism of three families: the wealthy Wilcoxes (the title is their country home), the gentle and idealistic Schlegels and the lower-middle class Basts.
A writer is currently being sought to pen the adaptation, the first time the property has been adapted as a mini-series. The most famous adaptation thus far is Merchant Ivory’s 1992 feature which won Emma Thompson an Oscar.
