Dinah Sheridan has died, aged 92. The film star was perhaps best known as the mother in The Railway Children in 1970. Her agent Gareth Owen confirmed that she died peacefully in her sleep at her Northwood, Middlesex home on Sunday morning (November 25) surrounded by her close family. Born Dinah Nadyejda Ginsburg in 1920, she was the mother of actress and Magpie star Jenny Hanley and politician Sir Jeremy Hanley. Her first role was Wendy in a stage version of Peter Pan as a 12-year-old, before breaking into films as a teenager.
