Russell Crowe recommended Hugh Jackman for his role as Wolverine. Jackman has revealed that his fellow Australian actor was responsible for his breakout action movie casting. "Bryan Singer asked Rusty [Crowe] to do Wolverine, and he said, 'Nah mate I've just done Gladiator, it's not for me but you should look at this guy...'," Jackman told Australian radio station Triple M 104.9Fm. The Les Misérables star went on to star in 20th Century Fox's X-Men trilogy and the X-Men Origins: Wolverine spinoff. Jackman and Crowe were revealed to be good friends during the interview.
