This is the time of year where we show thanks and gratitude for all of the things that brought us joy and gave our lives meaning in the past year. So naturally, we chose to highlight this piece of forgotten pop perfection unearthed by Mad Men for its long awaited season-five premiere. In the words of Popeye, we are what we are. When Don Draper’s (Jon Hamm) gorgeous new wife Megan (Jessica Pare) stepped into the spotlight to serenade her husband with the 1960 French minor hit “Zou Bisou Bisou,” our mouths dropped. Not only had we never heard anything so cloyingly sweet, upbeat and peppy in our entire lives, but we were definitely not expecting it on a show that can be as soul-crushingly depressing as Mad Men.
