Saga finale looks set to devour all, Skyfall boosts Sony, Lincoln lifts off and Silver Linings Playbook sparks Oscars chatter

It was only the second biggest Us opening weekend for the franchise, which tells you a lot about the popularity of 2009's New Moon, yet there's no denying that the Twilight finale is shaping up to become a monster. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opened in North America over the weekend on an estimated $141.3m. That's a hefty launch by anybody's standards and helped Lionsgate cross $1bn for the year-to-date in aggregated grosses for all its movies.

Summit Entertainment's cash cow (Lionsgate can now enjoy the spoils since it acquired Summit earlier this year) also caused a storm outside the States.
