Ratings Rat Race: American Music Awards Hit All-Time Low

More bad news for a venerable ABC music awards show franchise. Following the all-time lows in adults 18-49 and total viewers for the Country Music Awards earlier this month, the American Music Awards last night (3.4/8 in 18-49, 9.47 million total viewers) also hit all-time lows in both categories. In 18-49, the awards show was down 21% from last year. On the bright side for ABC, the network hit Sunday season highs and its veteran America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.7/5) at 7 Pm jumped 21% from last week to match its season high. That was despite facing another big NFL overrun, this time on CBS. The doubleheader pushed CBS’ primetime to a 7:53 Pm start, scrambling the network’s fast national results. By eyeballing the numbers, The Amazing Race and The Good Wife appear on par or slightly down from the previous week. NBC once again won the night with Sunday Night Football.
