Of all the names that have surfaced as rumored directors for Star Wars Episode VII, one of the weirdest has been Safety Not Guaranteed helmer Colin Trevorrow. and it might also be the most accurate. Sure, tons of Star Wars fanatics have been dreaming of heavy hitters like Christopher Nolan or J.J. Abrams taking over the beloved series, but Star Wars is a brand name that doesn't need another big name attached, and new Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy seems likely to hire a newcomer for peanuts rather than shell out for an expensive, experienced director who could come in with too many opinions of his own. So while Trevorrow is relatively untested, he's easily the kind of director who could land this big job. and he may have obliquely confirmed that he's in the running.
