Over the summer, it was speculated that the CW hoped to capitalize on The Hunger Games behemoth and snap up the rights to Battle Royale, a Japanese cult classic similar to The Hunger Games (or vice versa).

CW has found a viable alternative with Sick, a cross between Contagion and The Hunter Games, in which adults have become allergic to teens because of some mysterious virus. And so, quarantined teens go on the run against the big bad adults of the world. Sounds kinda fun!

The script comes from Sean Hood, the man behind Halloween: Resurrection. We’ll give you more updates when they come available, including whether or not this ends the chances of Battle Royale becoming a series or not.
