With the end of "Twilight" upon us thanks to Friday's release of "Breaking Dawn Part 2," we're already seeing contenders stepping up to be "the new 'Twilight.'" One of them even comes from "Twilight" creator Stephenie Meyer: sci-fi romance "The Host."

Starring Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger and William Hurt, the story involves an "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"-type alien invasion and one young woman (Ronan) who battles the parasite trying to take over her mind and body. The film is written and directed by Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca," "In Time") and despite an obvious (and understandable) attempt to target "Twilight" fans, the trailer looks like the final product could stand on its own (or could fail miserably a la "Red Riding Hood" and "I Am Number Four").

Take a look and decide for yourself:
