Yup, you read that headline right. Jurassic Park is next in line to be re-released in 3D, next year. Baring in mind that not so long ago, it was re-released into cinemas just before the Blu-Ray release, and from a box office point of view, it didn’t exactly burn down the house. Regardless, Jurassic Park is one of the biggest and best blockbusters of all time. It heralded the arrival of the full digital age, with Denis Murren and Industrial Light and Magic providing amazing digital dinos, combined with Stan Winston and his huge animatronic monsters. 3D Re-releases are surely now becoming the norm, but I wonder how much of an appetite audiences actually have for them, and while Titanic 3D brought in some bucks, is it really a worthwhile exercise. All that said, with the rumour mill clanking away about Jurassic Park 4 would a 3D re-release get the dino ball rolling? »
