Steven Spielberg’s 1993 dino classic Jurassic Park was the first film I became obsessed with as a kid. Next to Batman and Goosebumps, my other incessant infatuation centered around dinosaurs. As soon as I outgrew Barney (I loved that damn purple reptile), and discovered that not all dinosaurs were purple or sang songs that made my parents want to kill themselves, it naturally led me to watching Spielberg’s special effects epic. It instantly became a regular fixture of my youth, and still to this day is one of my favorite films’ of all time.
From Stan Winston’s mesmerizing practical effects work, to Ilm’s ground-breaking CGI, Jurassic Park is a wonder to behold & admire on a filmmaking level, and is rightfully a classic of cinema. Now, 20 years & two sequels later (with a fourth in development!), Universal is re-releasing the film back into theaters in 3D and IMAX 3D »
